What’s fair in Picton

fair

I say this all the time – I love being entertained. Put me in front of talent and my eyes glaze over, jaw drops and I get taken away with the performance. It can be anything from a clown making balloon creatures to an Italian opera. My only talent in this area is in front of a karaoke screen belting out some John Denver. So I was very thrilled to be asked to judge the upcoming “Rising Star” competition at the Picton Fair on Saturday. The competition is judging everything from sk8 boarding to vocal performances – it is sure to be a good day.

The Picton fair is one of the events that marks the end of the summer on our island and we go every year. Check out the competition on Saturday at 12. Fellow judges lined up so far include Kelly Roblin form Kelly’s Shop and actor Michael O’Hara from Festival Players fame. As a fellow judge – Kelly I’m used to talking to but whenever I try to talk to Michael or any of the other talent from the Festival Players shows my end of the conversation sounds like my 2 year old daughter  talking to the screen at Barney the dinosaur. That alone should make the judging interesting.
