County Collaborations

renevideoRecently I had the great honor of being interviewed about creative collaborations in Prince Edward County. The project was a short video for Artscape Toronto’s – Creative Spaces + Places event and was produced by Crowe Video Productions. It was wonderful that the County was featured in this way because we truly are a place of great creative collaborations. Below is the video.

I thought for this blog I would feature my favourite 5 from the past year.

  1. Kids Cuts for Cancer – This was the second year Scout was involved with this great project. It was an incredible success raising awareness and collecting more hair to make wigs than any previous year. The “Hairspray” inspired graphics brought attention to the local salon owner’s quest to help make lives easier for children with cancer. Involved in this collaboration were LizBiz (public relations), Village Barber (the organizer), Kelly’s Shop (window display and child gift bag sponsor), Michael Grills Photography (photography for event and posters), JB Printing (printing), Wellington United Church (photo shoot location), and of course our models and the wonderful people who donated their locks.
  2. Tourism Media Kit – I might like this one the best because it actually had the most of the greater community involvement. With dozens of Taste the County partners contributing to the stuffed lost journal, it became the ultimate County accessory to travel and tourism writers around the world. Winner of 6 industry awards.
  3. Festival Players Fundraiser – Ahh the great pie off. This wonderful event took place last month and was an outstanding success, which I mentioned in the video. This event was a wonderful cross-sector coming together of theatre supporters. With Festival Players organizing the event, the pie auction included such businesses as Kelly’s Shop- who contributed space in her window again, Nella Casson, Susanne Larner (Miss Lily’s fame), Spark Box amongst others. Everyone came out and danced the night away.
  4. County and Quinte Living Magazine – This quarterly publication on what’s happening in the area, pulls together great talent each time. Donna Kearns, the publisher, out does herself each time working with photographers like Mark Bartkiw and Jens Korberg and contributing writers including Jennifer Lester. Look out for the winter addition which will be better than ever.
  5. Holiday Magic – This is the 4th year I’ve been involved in this event. It is the primary fundraiser for the Quinte Arts Council which supports and promotes arts in our community. The organization exists with community partnerships of artists and business supporters. This year Scout will be working with Debra Tosh, Caitlin Den Boer of Adelita Rose (photography) and JB Printing (printing) to make it a success.
